LUMBERTON — Fairmont will lead off this year’s parade of July Fourth celebrations in Robeson County as the nation celebrates its 241st birthday.
Fairmont’s Fantastic Fourth will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the newly upgraded Community Park on South Main Street. The Independence Day celebration also will feature music by Spare Change, food, games for children and a fireworks display that starts at 9:30 p.m. Spare Change is making its first appearance in a holiday event that is in its 10th year.
Maxton’s Fourth of July festivities will be held July 1 beginning at 4 p.m. in Beacham Park. A fireworks display will be held as soon as it is dark. Any vendors who want to participate in the celebration are asked to call 910-844-5231.
The city of Lumberton’s Family Fourth celebration is scheduled for July 3 at Lumberton High School’s football stadium. The gates open at 6 p.m. for the free event that will feature entertainment by Dark Water Rising, the All Veteran Parachute Jump Team, inflatables and face-painting. Vendors will be selling concessions. The entertainment starts at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
Parkton will be the site of a parade sponsored by the Parkton Ruritans that starts at 11:30 a.m. on July 4. The opening ceremony is at 9 a.m. in The Memory Park next to Town Hall.
St. Pauls will celebrate the Fourth of July on July 4 as well. There will be a fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. at the fire station at 585 W. McLean St.
In Rennert, the festivities begin at 10 a.m. on July 4 with a parade through town. The daylong celebration also includes Gospel singing, vendors selling various food and items, and games for children. The town’s fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.
