St. Pauls officials want yard debris off street

Staff Report

ST. PAULS — The St. Pauls Board of Commissioners is telling residents an ordinance has been adopted prohibiting the blowing of grass, leaves and other vegetation onto the streets.

The ordinance is intended to keep leaves, grass clippings, limbs and other yard debris out of the streets where it can be swept into the drainage system by rain, blocking the flow of water and causing flooding.

For the month of August, town employees are leaving notices at businesses and homes where the lawn debris is in the street. Town employees will pick up the debris, but it should not be in the street or along the gutter for any reason. Residents worried about it being blown back in the yard can put it in a bag.

Call Town Hall at 910-865-5164 for more information about the ordinance.
