Former Swett valedictorian graduates Duke

PEMBROKE — Alaric Avery Bryant of Pembroke earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University on May 14. He is the son of Alfred and Tabitha Bryant. He earned a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Cultural Anthropology.

During his studies, Bryant participated in a study abroad experience examining the environment in Ireland. He plans to attend graduate school at North Carolina State University in the fall.

Bryant was valedictorian of his class at Purnell Swett High School in 2013.

His father, Alfred Bryant Jr., serves as dean of the School of Education at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
