New leadership, new directions, new visions.

Jason Bullock, who succeeded Jimmy Taylor and became the 34th President of the St. Pauls Area Chamber of Commerce last month, took over officially at the group’s monthly meeting on June 9.

Mr. Bullock has begun work on a campaign of goals and improvements in the Chamber, including creation of new committees that will be comprised of different board members.

The board of directors adopted a new rule, following a motion by Libby Ferguson, that the Chamber will now only sponsor ribbon cutting ceremonies for new businesses that join the Chamber prior to the event.

The group also adopted a motion by Suzanne Malloy that its annual calendar be studied and that ad hoc committees for annual events be appointed, and that these committees, which can include associate members, meet independently of the group and bring recommendations before the full board whenever necessary.

Three new committees have already begun work. The Website Committee, consisting of Jansen King, chair, Jason Bullock, Suzanne Malloy, Duncan Mackie, and Doris McLean was to meet with Alan Womack, owner of Universal Computers, on Tuesday to create rules and assignments, fees, prices for ads, responsibilities and schedules.

The Fundraising Committee, consisting of Libby Ferguson, Suzanne Malloy, Doris McLean, Betty Biggs, Jansen King and Dr. Jimmie Williams, is scheduled to meet again on July 14 at 12:30 at Foxridge Apartments.

The Membership Committee, consisting of Libby Ferguson, Suzanne Malloy, Jerry Weindel and Betty Biggs, met after the board meeting and began its work. These committee members are currently calling on businesses that have not yet renewed Chamber membership. Chamber membership stood at 44 as of last Thursday.
