Parkton-The Red Springs and Northern Railroad Foundation will hold its second annual Railfan Day Ride on Sat., Mar. 31, 2012 (rain date: Sun., April 1, 2012). This ride will include the full 13 miles of the railroad from Red Springs to Parkton and back. There will be three rides: leaving Red Springs at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 11:45 a.m.; leaving Red Springs at 12:15 p.m. and returning at 3:30 p.m.; and leaving Red Springs at 4:00 p.m. and return at 7:15 p.m..

Each ride will have a layover at the 1892 Parkton Depot where food and Red Springs and Northern t-shirts will be available for purchase.

There are a limited number of seats available for each train ride and these seats have filled quickly in past events; therefore, early reservations are recommended. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Cut off date for reservation is Wed., Mar. 28, 2012.

For ticket reservations, please call 910-285-6242 during the hours of 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The RS&N is a 501 c 3 non profit corporation and your ticket purchase is a tax deductible donation. All Proceeds go to the continued restoration, preservation and operations of the Red Springs and Northern Railroad.
