Catch baseball fever, win cash

It’s time to catch the fever … baseball fever that is, as The Robesonian and its supporting advertisers join together to bring print and online readers another contest that affords both bragging rights and a chance at cash prizes.

Called Fan Fever, the contest began Monday, April 9 and runs for seven weeks, allowing baseball fanatics — and even the rookies — to get into the swing of ranking the best American and National League players out there this year.

It works like this: Visit us online at www.robesonian.com, click on the Fan Fever logo and follow the simple steps to register. Then, participants will be given a list of players and ask to rank them in a variety of categories, including strikeouts, at-bats and RBIs.

You can only enter once, but the great thing is you can check in daily to change your rankings as the season progresses. In fact, you can make those changes all the way up to 11:59 p.m. on May 27, when the contest closes.

Winners, however, won’t be selected until after the All-Star break, around July 4.

A national cash prize totaling $500 will be given to the winner and a $25 prize will be awarded at the local level to the person who comes closest in their rankings.

If there is more than one winner, a random drawing will be held at the national level to determine the prize winner.

And once you’ve entered, follow the contest on The Robesonian’s website or watch for updates on our Facebook page. So log on, sign up, and test your baseball skills. Who knows, they might just be good enough to get a home run.
